Mini Split Heat Pump Reviews – Central Air Conditioner.
The central air-conditioning systems are classified by the ton and British thermal units (BTU). By replacing your old central air system, chances are you want to replace it with a unit of the same size. However, the label of your central air system does not display this information. Fortunately, with a mathematical calculation, it is easy to imagine the actual tonnage of your central air conditioning system with no need to hire a professional technician.
Find the label of the air condenser unit and find the BTU rating and the rating of tonnage. The condenser air in a split system air conditioning unit is located outside your home. If you have an outdoor unit, the label is on the indoor unit. If it lists tons, do not need any calculation and you've found the tonnage of your cooling system.
Mini Split Heat Pumps – BTU Calculator.
Divide the BTU on the label, by 12,000. You must use this number as the divisor because there are 12,000 BTU per ton. The result of this calculation will be the tons of your central air conditioning system. For example, suppose your system is labeled as 60,000 BTU. Dividing 60,000 by 12,000 will give you 5 tons. This is the most accurate method to determine the tons in the central air conditioning system when the tag does not indicate the tons on it directly.
Mini Split Air Conditioner – Air Conditioner Models.
Find the model number on the label. If the system does not have the BTU or tons of information on the list, find the model number on the label. Contact a heating contractor, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and provides the model number. Most HVAC contractors can find the tonnage of the system by model number.
