A split system air conditioner is a ductless unit having a condenser outside the equipment and air handling unit inside, according to the Department of Energy United States. These air conditioning units can save more energy than larger units because they can cool a room at a time. In some cases up to four air handling units may be connected to a condenser.
Lift the grille split air conditioner and remove it. Clean the screen with a damp cloth. Remove the air filters of the front of the air conditioner. Hold the filters by the handles and pull them down. There's one on the left and one on the right side. Let hot water run on air filters to remove dust. Place the filters in a shady place to dry completely.
Hold the handle of the dust collection unit, right behind the air filter and pull it. Fill a bucket of warm water and add 1 teaspoon mild detergent. We recommend low alkaline detergents or isotopes. Place the dust collection unit in the water and let stand for 10-15 minutes.
