The basic refrigeration parts are extremely similar to those in any air conditioning unit. Refrigeration parts are essentially broken down into four main spots with one area used twice. When traveling through the expansion valve, the refrigerant goes from high pressure to low pressure.

 

A refrigerant compressor is a component of a refrigerator which is designed to compress the refrigerant used to cool the refrigerator. Compressors can also be found on other devices which are designed to be used for cooling. The refrigerant compressor is part of a closed system which keeps the refrigerant moving in a loop; in some systems, the system is on continuously to maintain a very stable temperature, while in others, it may cycle on and off.

The way in which a refrigeration system works is actually rather interesting. It starts with a refrigerant, a fluid with some unique properties which allow it to transfer heat and cold very efficiently. Refrigerants are used in fridges, freezers, and air conditioning systems, and a number of different chemicals are used. Historically, the chemicals used were dangerous for the environment, which posed a problem when they leaked or a refrigeration system was discarded. Many designs call for the inclusion of high efficiency particle air filters, commonly known as HEPA filters. These filters are capable of capturing a considerable amount of contaminants, making them more efficient than many other types of filters. In addition, a good quality HEPA filter does not have to be changed as often as other filters, a quality that many consumers find attractive.

In areas where temperatures are high and sunny conditions are common, radiant insulation can help keep temperatures down and reduce the cost of home cooling. Radiant insulation is not effective for keeping heat in during cold weather. In fact, heat from sunlight will not be able to pass through the roof, and home heating costs might even rise.

 

Each set of refrigerant piping may be installed using sheet metal hangers or tape. Some manufacturers also produce special hangers designed to work with these lines. The lines should be placed close together, but should never touch one another, as this could impact system performance.
